I LOVED this book! From the secrets each person was hiding to the deception and the love interest I did not want to put it down! The ending left me wanting to read the next book immediately! I had some guesses on how the book would end and some of them where correct, but there were also unexpected events that happened that killed me!! I cannot wait for the next book!
After the devastating revolution Runes life changed forever, witches' went from powerful rulers to hunted and killed. Rune must now hide what she is in order to stay alive. In her everyday life she is pretending to be a wealthy woman who loves to gossip and throwing parties but in the night she is the Crimson Moth who saves witches form their death. She lives this dual life to throw people off and it works really well until a rescue goes wrong. She decides the best way to throw the witch hunters off her sent, and to get intel she desperately needs, is to court Gideon which happens to be a witch hunter.
Gideon thinks that Rune is a shallow wealthy woman who just gossips but he learns that the Crimson Moth has been using Rune's ships to smuggle witches out. He decided to determine if she is a witch and the Crimson Moth that he should court her. The more Gideon gets to know Rune he learns that she's not just pretty but she is also intelligent. We also get insight on why Gideon hates witches and the lengths he is willing to go to get rid of them.
This book is great if you are in a reading slump its a great read. I love the enemies to lovers trope along with the slow burn. The spice level as low but worked really well with the flow of the book.
I do wish that there was more information when Rune was the Crimson Moth but the second book might have some more insight.
